Golden Mustard Sauce (G)

The large, festively decorated ballroom was filled with attendees who were happy to be part of the Christmas dinner festivities in Hemet, CA. Everyone was dressed in holiday clothing and more than two-thirds of the guests hailed from Canada.

While the Golden Village RV Park provided delicious spiral cut ham, each group of eight couples brought food to share. Jeane Underwood, from Alberta, brought vegetables and a special mustard sauce for the ham.

Never having even heard of mustard sauce before, I had no idea what it would taste like.

I tentatively dipped a piece of ham into the golden goodness and WOWIE! The flavors were so right ... so mouth wateringly great ... so amazing! And, lucky for me, Jeane was more than happy to share her recipe.

Golden Mustard Sauce

1/2 cup sugar
1/2 cup brown sugar
2 eggs, beaten
2 T dry mustard (Jeane uses Keens brand which I could not find)
1/3 cup water
1/3 cup white vinegar

Combine all the ingredients in a sauce pan. Simmer and stir until sauce is slightly thickened. Serve or refrigerate. May be reheated.
