Golden Mustard Sauce (G)

The large, festively decorated ballroom was filled with happy people ... attendees at the Christmas dinner festivities at the Golden Village RV Park in Hemet, CA. Everyone sported holiday clothing and more than two-thirds of the guests hailed from Canada.

The park provided wonderful spiral cut ham, each table group of eight couples brought everything else. Jeane Underwood, from Alberta, shared vegetables and a special mustard sauce for the ham.

Never having even heard of mustard sauce, I had no idea what it would taste like and almost decided against trying it. Thank goodness my curiosity won out. I dipped a piece of ham into the sauce tasted it.

WOWIE! The flavors were so right and mouth-wateringly great!

And, lucky for me, Jeane was more than happy to share her recipe.

Golden Mustard Sauce

1/2 cup sugar
1/2 cup brown sugar
2 eggs, beaten
2 T dry mustard (Jeane uses Keens brand which I could not find)
1/3 cup water
1/3 cup white vinegar

Combine all the ingredients in a sauce pan. Simmer and stir until sauce is slightly thickened. Serve or refrigerate. May be reheated.
